A Current Transducer is a device for measuring AC and DC currents based on
the Hall-Effect technology. The general functionality is described in the following diagram:

|
BFi OPTiLAS provides Current Transducer using the following two technologies: |
1) Open Loop Technology:
Open Loop Transducers use the simplest implementation of the Hall-Effect.
|
2) Closed Loop Technology:
Closed Loop Transducers have a compensation circuit that improves the performance.

A current carrying conductor positioned through
the aperture of the sensor creates a magnetic field that is proportionate to the current.
This field is concentrated by the core and sensed by the Hall Effect element that is mounted in the air gap of the core.
The Hall generator is connected to the input of the amplifier which amplified the voltage.
The output is an output voltage. |
Advantages:
- Light in weight
- Smaller construction (size)
- Low power consumption
The Advantages are giving the best solution for cost effective current measurement! |
|
| The primary current lp produces a magnetic flux. This magnetic flux is aligned by a complementary flux produced by
driving a current through the secondary windings.
A hall device and associated electronic circuit generate the compensating current that is used for the output.
The conversion of the output current to an output voltage is easily done by adding a measurement resistor, RM, in series with the secondary coil. |
Advantages:
- Very good accuracy and linearity
- Wide bandwidth
- Low gain drift
- Fast response time
The Advantages are giving the best solution for accurate current measurement! |
